Babylon’s Embrace.

I’m going to be honest with you. I’m struggling. The thought of a unrestrained Democrat President and Congress is more than I can get my head around. Perhaps I’m wrong, but I can see the far left bullying Biden into sin that even he doesn’t want to commit.

There are some of you who will categorize me with David Platt and John Piper by saying our voice cost Trump the election because we encouraged people to vote Democratic. I’ve seen it already. Put blame where blame is due. Can anyone deny that Donald Trump is his own worst enemy?

I can’t see why bible-believing, born-again Christian would vote Democratic ticket. Perhaps there are some who did, but then we need to really educate these folks about abortion. And the rest of us really need to wake up to what the bible teaches about social issues as well.

Still, my heart is heavy with the thought of this nation sinking further and further into its putrid sin and the wrath of God that awaits it.

Yes, I know I have written that God’s justice brings him glory, and in that we should praise him. Even so, I mourn for a nation that smites him. Don’t they know that he is the only source of life? Of course they do. Paul wrote about this in Romans 10:18-21. Although in this passage he is speaking of Jews, it also applies to all those who do not believe.

My marching orders are clear. I am an ambassador of Christ charged with the ministry of reconciliation. I am not of this world. This nation, the USA, isn’t my nation. Even so I mourn as I see family, friends, and neighbors get sucked into this maddening free fall into death.

One day, all of this will come to an end.

Revelation 18 After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth was made bright with his glory. And he called out with a mighty voice,

“Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great!
She has become a dwelling place for demons,
a haunt for every unclean spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast.
For all nations have drunk
the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality,
and the kings of the earth have committed immorality with her,
and the merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living.”

Then I heard another voice from heaven saying,

“Come out of her, my people,
lest you take part in her sins,
lest you share in her plagues;
for her sins are heaped high as heaven,
and God has remembered her iniquities.

Christian, heed verse 4 and 5.

Let me leave you with this:

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

Share the gospel. In that, you will find great reward.

Father, my trust is in you, God of all comfort, my rock and my redeemer. Amen.

  1. I am struggling as well. Based on the trends I’m seeing in the data though, even if Trump won/wins, it’s just a small stop in the inevitable landslide of Democrats eventually becoming the dominant force in American politics. Millennials aren’t voting Republican, and Generation Z really isn’t. Gen Z is on the path to being the most godless generation in American history.
