“I am the Lord; that is my name;
my glory I give to no other,
nor my praise to carved idols.”
Isaiah 42:8
Just for the heck of it, I checked out a random prayer that I clicked on at Catholic.Org (https://www.catholic.org/prayers/prayer.php?p=114 )
Consecration to Mary
O Mary, Virgin most powerful and Mother of mercy, Queen of Heaven and Refuge of sinners, we consecrate ourselves to thine Immaculate Heart. We consecrate to thee our very being and our whole life; all that we have, all that we love, all that we are. To thee we give our bodies, our hearts and our souls; to thee we give our homes, our families, our country. We desire that all that is in us and around us may belong to thee, and may share in the benefits of thy motherly benediction. And that act of consecration may be truly efficacious and lasting, we renew this day at thy feet the promises of our Baptism and our first Holy Communion. We pledge ourselves to profess courageously and at all time the truths of our holy Faith, and to live as befits Catholic who are duly submissive to all the directions of the Pope and the Bishops in communion with him. We pledge ourselves to keep the commandments of God and His Church, in particular to keep holy the Lord’s Day. We likewise pledge ourselves to make the consoling practices of the Christian religion, and above all, Holy Communion, an integral part of our lives, in so far as we shall be able to do so. Finally, we promise thee, O glorious Mother of God and loving Mother of men, to devote ourselves whole-heartedly to the service of thy blessed cult, in order to hasten and assure, through the sovereignty of thine Immaculate Heart, the coming of the kingdom of the Sacred Heart of thine adorable Son, in our own hearts and those of all me, in our country and in all the world, as in heaven, so on earth. Amen.
Self-described. Queen of Heaven. Cult. Very appropriate.
Remember when God sent Babylon to destroy Judah? Remember why he did that? Because they were worshiping gods other than him. Bottom line. It wasn’t because they were greedy or killed one another or lied or failed to tie a ribbon properly. No, it was because they worshipped other gods. So, God send Babylon to destroy them. Some tried to escape to Egypt, but that didn’t save them. Incredibly, through all this, the people would not completely give up worshipping foreign gods and one in particular. In fact, they blamed their hardship because they had stopped for a time!
Jeremiah 44:6-10 Therefore my wrath and my anger were poured out and kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem, and they became a waste and a desolation, as at this day. And now thus says the Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel: Why do you commit this great evil against yourselves, to cut off from you man and woman, infant and child, from the midst of Judah, leaving you no remnant? Why do you provoke me to anger with the works of your hands, making offerings to other gods in the land of Egypt where you have come to live, so that you may be cut off an become a curse and a taunt among all the nations of the earth? Have you forgotten the evil of your fathers, the evil of the kings of Judah, the evil of their wives, your own evil, and the evil of your wives, which they committed in the land of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem? They have not humbled themselves even to this day, nor have they feared, nor walked in my law and my statutes that I set before you and before your fathers.
God goes on to further to describe the punishment that he will inflict upon them, ending with “so that none of the remnant of Judah who have come to live in the land of Egypt shall escape or survive or return to the land of Judah, to which they desire to return to dwell there. For they shall not return, except some fugitives.” v. 14
Incredibly, the people said their problems were because they STOPPED worshipping foreign gods!
Jeremiah 44:15-19 Then all the men who knew that their wives had made offerings to other gods, and all the women who stood by, a great assembly, all the people who lived in Pathros in the land of Egypt, answered Jeremiah: “As for the word that you have spoken to us in the name of the Lord, we will not listen to you. But we will do everything that we have vowed, make offerings to the queen of heaven and pour out drink offerings to her, as we did, both we and our fathers, our kings and our officials, in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem. For then we had plenty of food, and prospered, and saw no disaster. But since we left off making offerings to her, we have lacked everything and have been consumed by the sword and by famine.” And the women said, “When we made offerings to the queen of heaven and poured out drink offerings to her, was it without our husbands’ approval that we made cakes for her bearing her image and poured out drink offerings to her?”
Then the Lord responded by basically saying have it your way, and he wiped them out just like he said he would. Today, these same are in hell awaiting final judgment in the lake of fire.
My friends, the Catholic faith stands in judgment by the Word of God, not the words of the man they call Pope. I am done writing on this topic for now. I’m sick to my stomach from reading about all their garbage. I started because a Catholic friend of mine poked me that faith isn’t sufficient for salvation; and the more I looked into it, the more disgusting this religion truly is.
Many people will think I’m being a hard-nosed jerk about all this. So be it. I’m not out to win any awards. If I end up losing a lot of friends, that’s the price I will have to pay. It’s not really a price, when I really stop to think about it (and I have). I love this friend of mine (and many of my relatives, too), and cringe at the idea that he is promulgating this false religion. There is just way, way too much to overlook, and I haven’t even started digging into the deception of the papacy or clergy. Is there truth to be found in it? I suppose so. They do read scripture at every Mass, so they all hear the word of God. Indeed, some are born again while members. But, like the parables of the seeds, few actually produce true fruit from the Kingdom of God. This Catholic prayer is fruit of their works. Judge for yourselves.
Why do you suppose things get like this? Well, it seems to me that they are violating a basic tenant of what Jesus said, that few will enter the kingdom of God. With infant baptism, they make it possible for EVERYONE to enter; but that’s a false teaching. It won’t happen. It’s a lie. Still, the false promise creates loyalty and power and money that come with it. Add to it guilt, fear, and shame as part of the fabric of the faith, then you really ensnare people.
That’s my opinion. What I do know is that Catholics prefer to be called Catholics rather than Christians, and they are very schooled in their faith (but not the bible). Furthermore, they have learned well that outsiders will try to “deceive” them and lure them away from their Catholic faith. They will quickly shut down any conversation that steers that way.
So, who’s really behind all this? If they use the name of Christ, but have false teaching and worship foreign gods, this can’t be from God no more than the practices of the Israelites. Who’s behind it?
Figure these things out for yourselves. Do your own research. Don’t take my word for it. Check it out and make up your own minds.
Father, I pray for my friend and family. Amen.
