Preparing to Retire

I spent some time last week with a sailor on his boat, a charming man who loves his family and is preparing to retire. Like all of us growing old, he realizes just how fleeting time is. He wants to spend more with his granddaughter, so the boat has to go.

He did most of the talking, so there was little opportunity to share the gospel. If I could do it over again, what would I do? What would I say?

“My friend, I wish you well. May I ask one thing as you are preparing for retirement. Please consider Jesus. For most of my life, I refused. I’m telling you that I was a fool. I didn’t understand. I thought I did, but I didn’t. Odds are you don’t either.

“You likely have your reasons. I had mine. I’m asking you, please, to set these aside, whatever they might be. I assure you that none will stand up once you taste and see.

“As you well know, time is short. We don’t get to do life over. This is really important. Please, I beg of you, allow me to tell you more.”

My Appeal To You.

Reader, perhaps you are preparing to retire as well and see just how little sand is left in the hourglass. Don’t waste another day – or hour. I don’t mean to frighten you, but there is nothing more important for you to do today. As the bible says, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts.” None of us know the day or the hour.

If something inside is stirring, act. If nothing else, please contact me through my website or PM through Facebook. I would be honored to talk to you more. Here’s a link that you might find interesting. If you would like to know my story, click here.

I wish you well!
