Good Morning!
I had people reach out to me yesterday and said they were praying for me. They were concerned about what I may be experiencing as I wrote the daily post. Everything was in the normal day-to-day course of business, yet at times life does get the best of us. All of us. So, thank all of you who pray for me. I am not ashamed to say that I need prayer. We all do. So, last night I continued my Big Prayers. I got to thinking, one of Satan’s intentions is to keep me, as a believer, down. Right? He can’t take away my spot in heaven, but he is bent on taking away my joy and all the other fruit of the Spirit. Why is he so determined to do that? In my case yesterday, it was to keep me from praying Big Prayers. It makes perfect sense. If I don’t feel worthy, I won’t feel like praying – especially for Big Prayers.
So, I doubled down. I prayed like crazy last night for those Big Prayers. I wrote them down. I’m going to pray them morning and night and throughout the day. I’m going to keep adding to them, making them bigger. I’m adding scripture to support it and pray back God’s word to him. I’m going to ask for everything I can think of to build the kingdom. Why? Why not?! God commands me to ask, so I will ask. That’s called obedience. I think it’s about time I got really serious about this.
I’ll fill you in on one of my Big Prayers. It has to do with you and what you are reading right now. Let’s go over why I write this:
From https://hislightshines.com/about/
2 Corinthians 4:6 ESV
For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Our mission as believers? It’s right here.
This blog is my daily devotion intended to let out as much of God’s light as I can. You see, unless I am diligent in pursuing the Kingdom of God, the cares of this world dim His light in me. I can easily become like smoky, dirty glass, unable to allow light to shine through. I need to really dig into God’s Word to keep my glass clean. How can I be a good witness if I don’t shine? I can’t. Not only that, but I won’t want to.
The secondary intention is to encourage other believers to wash their own windows so they, too, will be eager to share the Good News. Believers should want to share the Gospel. Our gift from God was immense, and we know it. Unless we all are careful, we lose sight of that.
Finally, we pray for each other as we go about God’s business in this land that is not our home.
My prayer is that you find these writings encouraging and useful in your own daily devotions. Relish in the things of God so that you may be like a songbird – unable to contain your praises of our King Jesus!
God has gifted me with the ability to put pen to paper. I’m not fancy and don’t intend to be. I write like I think and talk, although my actual speech is sometimes better left off paper. Many people tell me how these devotionals speak to them and encourage them in their daily walk. How cool is that! I’m doing all this anyway; and if others benefit, wonderful! I have been encouraged by many to get this out to a wider audience, and that is what I’ve been working toward. I have a website that I publish these to. Facebook is updated automatically. Soon, I will offer email sign-ups through both. And, I plan to start sponsoring posts through Facebook to reach those who don’t know me.
You can help me through all this, and I pray that you do. How? By “Liking” my Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/2Cor4/ and inviting your friends to “Like” the page as well. You can do that through the “…” button next to it on the page. Let me know if you need help with that. You can also share or like individual posts. You can also forward emails or send links for the website. If you have found these to be inspirational, please share them with others.
That’s one of my Big Prayers. How about you? What are YOUR Big Prayers? Share them with me, and I’ll join you in prayer. In time, I would like to set up a prayer board. Until then, send me your Big Prayer requests. I would be honored to pray for you! Take me up on this!
Father, you are clear in your Word that we are welcome to enter your throne room to ask for whatever we wish in Jesus’ name. I ask that you embolden everyone who reads these posts to ask Big Prayers with gusto and determination. You tell us that you are able to do far more than we can think or ask, so we are going to take you up on this. Father, embolden us to share these posts to make a much wider audience, encouraging others to engage you. We ask that you use these posts to blow fresh wind in our sails so that we may meet the day invigorated. Use these posts to encourage your workers to share the gospel to a lost and dying world. Your Word is life. Let us share that life with enthusiasm. Amen.
