Good Morning!
We have things pretty easy here in America. Strike that. We have things VERY easy. I’m reading a book by The Voice of the Martyrs entitled “Hearts of Fire” which is a collection of 8 stories of women in counties that persecute(d) Christians. It is well written. The pages turn quickly, but it is tough reading in that this stuff actually happened. It’s simply hard for me to comprehend how brutal humans can be. I recommend the book.
I’m reading more now. Why? Because I have more time on my hands. You see, I’m starting to figure out I was spending more time on Facebook than I wanted to admit. Here I am telling people the wisdom of chucking the TV yet here I am squandering all sorts of time on Facebook. Yes, it serves a purpose, but the Garbage In, Garbage Out rule applies. I actually cut way back as a fast to the Lord. Then I realized this really doesn’t count as a fast because it is something I should be giving up completely, not just for a period of time. So, yes, I still look at Facebook, but I have used the feature to put a group of favorites to the top of my feed. It only takes a minute to go through those. I don’t bother going beyond that.
Speaking of Facebook, feel free to Like or Share “His Light Shines” posts. Invite friends. Use the favorite feature to have it post to the top of your feed. Thanks!

Back to my book. It is extremely encouraging to read how people dig deep into scripture to find comfort and reassurance that their faith is based on what is real. Jesus indeed is real. Everything in the bible is real. Not only that, but it is alive and speaks to us who believe. These aren’t mere words on paper but they are promises that cannot be broken. Will God protect me? Of course, even during persecution. I am not alone, no matter the situation.
Matthew 10:28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather fear him who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
What’s my situation with him?
Romans 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Yes, I fear God, and should, but in awe and reverence not because I am his enemy. Those days are done. God is now my Father, my Deliverer, my Refuge in time of need. All this reminds me of a recording by Dr. S.M. Lockridge. Take a listen for yourself. It’s worth your time.

Folks, there is nothing that can touch you today because you are a child of the King. You are not of this world; your home is in heaven with Jesus. In just a short time, you will be with him, if indeed you have saving faith. You’ll know you do if there is evidence of a new creation, of being born again. You’ll be different, and the world will know it.
This is something to rejoice!
Father, you’re all that I need. There is nothing more I could have even if I wanted it. Embolden me today to have courage like the martyrs who proclaim your name despite the risks faced in this world. I don’t want to be a coward. Make me brave and keep my eye riveted on Jesus. Amen.
