2020-10-13 No Easy Choice.

“Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.” 1 Peter 5:8

More on the presidential election. I had been working toward a discussion on unholy alliances, and I probably will continue with that again. But, my whole discussion hinged on the idea that there might be more than one candidate on the ballot who was pro-life. There is.

At least in Minnesota there is. Donald Trump and Kanye West. I can’t find anything for certain on Brock Pierce with regards to abortion. Silence on the topic is reason enough to assume he isn’t passionate about ending abortion.

I have a choice between two pro-life candidates. Now I must decide between the two. Why am I limiting myself to pro-life candidates? Because murder is the law of the land. With sixty million babies slaughtered since Roe v. Wade, I would say that this is something that I cannot ignore. Other issues are important, but this one is so big that it’s almost impossible to see.

Look, I don’t see how we can possibly expect to avoid the wrath of God on this topic. We are killing our babies because they interfere with our lives, if nothing else because the timing is not what we want.

According to an article in USA Today, 1% of abortions are because of rape and less than 0.5% are from incest. Over 98% are for other reasons. Personal reasons. Personal as in Me, My, Mine. I’m more important than this fetus. I value ME more that IT. IT has to go.

That’s idolatry, a worship of self. No matter how you look at it, babies are being sacrificed at the altar of ME.

Do you know what God said about people like that? Three times the Prophet Jeremiah addressed this (7:31, 19:5, and 32:35). Read for yourself how God thinks about such a thing:

Jeremiah 19:3-9 You shall say, ‘Hear the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem. Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Behold, I am bringing such disaster upon this place that the ears of everyone who hears of it will tingle. Because the people have forsaken me and have profaned this place by making offerings in it to other gods whom neither they nor their fathers nor the kings of Judah have known; and because they have filled this place with the blood of innocents, and have built the high places of Baal to burn their sons in the fire as burnt offerings to Baal, which I did not command or decree, nor did it come into my mind — therefore, behold, days are coming, declares the Lord, when this place shall no more be called Topheth, or the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, but the Valley of Slaughter. And in this place I will make void the plans of Judah and Jerusalem, and will cause their people to fall by the sword before their enemies, and by the hand of those who seek their life. I will give their dead bodies for food to the birds of the air and to the beasts of the earth. And I will make this city a horror, a thing to be hissed at. Everyone who passes by it will be horrified and will hiss because of all its wounds. And I will make them eat the flesh of their sons and their daughters, and everyone shall eat the flesh of his neighbor in the siege and in the distress, with which their enemies and those who seek their life afflict them.’

You tell me. Should the USA be exempt from this wrath? I don’t think so. From what I read in my bible, nothing ticks God more than worshiping false gods, and child sacrifice is an abomination that tops that list.

Abortion is a great, great evil.

We need to keep perspective in all this. Who’s behind it? Democrats? Feminists? Liberals? How about the college Republican who knocks a girl up and pays for an abortion? Yes, to all of these. And more:

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

This is a spiritual issue that is played out by sinful humans. Therefore, the solution is spiritual. Is the answer to play it out through the voting booth? I don’t think so.

One last thought for the day. What about the counter argument that pro-lifers are actually pro-BIRTH and not pro-LIFE in that little concern is given to the mother and baby once the baby is born? This is a valid point that is primarily used as means to distract. However, there is merit in it. Enough to keep abortions legal? No, but enough that it will radically hit our pocketbooks if abortion would ever become illegal.

I’ll have more more to say as I process all this for my own ballot.
